Low-Budget Repairs lists Steam Cloud support. Synchronization is separate from the game's own ability to save an object or mission correctly: a successfully synced file can still contain an in-game progression problem.
Before changing computers
Let Steam finish synchronization after closing the game and check its Cloud status before opening the game elsewhere. Valve documents that incomplete synchronization can leave older progress available on another computer.
If Steam reports a conflict
A conflict means local and cloud files differ. Compare the displayed timestamps with the session you intend to keep; do not automatically select the cloud copy or assume the newest timestamp contains the best progress. Preserve copies you can identify before replacing anything. If you cannot distinguish the sessions, stop at the conflict dialog and consult Steam Support rather than guessing.
If the correct session contains a broken objective
Separate synchronization evidence from mission evidence. Record the objective and item state immediately before saving and after loading. Update 6 addressed missing purchases, emptied trunks, reset wiring and mission progression, but this does not mean Valve can repair the contents of an affected game save.
No destructive reset recipe
This guide does not provide an unverified save-folder path or recommend deleting cloud data. A cloud copy is not a substitute for a separate known-good backup. Keep the failing session for a developer report and avoid repeated overwrites while testing.
